Athlone eCom Ltd. was formed by Athlone Town Council in January 2001 to promote and market the town and environs at local, regional, national, and international level under the domain www.athlone.ie. A portal was designed and launched in December 2001. The portal has been maintained, developed and promoted ever since and the look and design has evolved many times since it originally went online.The portal provides information on all things Athlone including: industry, commerce, community, social affairs, sport, history, culture, heritage, tourism, education, amenities, the environment, local government, the arts, music, drama, and crafts.

Frankie has been Chairman of Athlone eCom since the company was formed in early 2001.
