Primarily aimed to assist Older People living in poor housing conditions to have necessary repairs/improvements carried out, aimed at those aged 60 years and above.

Scheme Overview


  • If grant approved works will not be carried out by the local authority and it will be a matter for the applicants to arrange the works themselves
  • Maximum grant is €10,500, which may cover up to 100% of the cost of works.
  • Scheme subject to means test - Maximum grant of €10,500 to cover 100% of cost of works, available to applicants whose gross household income is less than €30,000 tapering to 30% for those with incomes of between €54,001 and €65,000. No grant payable to households with incomes of €65,00 or more.< /li>
  • The Local Authority must now seek appropriate evidence of ownership of a property prior to processing grant applications.
  • Eligible works include - structural repairs or improvements, re-wiring, drylining, repairs to or replacement of windows.doors, provision of central heating, water & sanitary services, radon remediation, any other repair works which are considered reasonably necessary by the local authority.
