Married to Siobhan Downes a native of Athlone with two children, Alanna & Adam.
A Native of Athlone, Frankie was educated at Cornamaddy National School, Marist College, Athlone and NUIG.
Employed by Eircom since 1980. A member of AthloneTown Council from 1995 to 2004. In the 1999 local elections was the third person to be elected to the Council. Honoured and delighted to be Chairman of Athlone Town Council during the Millennium Year (1999 - 2000).
Member of Westmeath County Council since 2004. Chairman & co-founder of the Athlone Drug Awareness Group. Successfully Chaired the Baylin Group Water Scheme. Area Coordinator of Bliary/Moydrum Neighbourhood Watch Scheme. Former member of the Garda Divisional Quality Initiative Committee. Member of the Housing , Social & Cultural Strategic Policy Committee. Former member of the Ardnagrath National School Board of Management. Will continue working to try and provide a better quality of life for the people of Athlone & District, covering areas such as health, recreational open spaces, traffic management, roads & footpaths, traffic calming, housing, litter control, youth issues, agriculture etc.
Frankie has initiated and lead the implementation of a Portal Web site for Athlone under the name www.athlone.ie and at present holds the position as Chairman of Athlone eCom Ltd Board of Directors which is responsible for the delivery of this project.
