Frankie on location of recent roadworks
Speaking at a recent area committee meeting Fianna Fáil Cllr Frankie Keena welcomed the funding allocations for regional and local roads in the Athlone area. “I am delighted to see €180,000 available for the R444 in Castledaly for both surface dressing and road restoration. I have received numerous representations with regard to the condition of this road from people in the Castledaly area and now hopefully this money will go some way to alleviate their concerns”, he said.
He added that a special allocation of €210,000 had been made available from the Department of Transport for the Mullingar Road from Tinker’s Cross to Annagh.
“With regard to local roads in our area I welcome the allocation of €90,000 for the Rath road to carry out road restoration and surfacing. It is also great to see €175,000 made available for the Brittas road between Glasson and Corr Cross. A further €140,000 has been granted for the Clonbonny and Carrickobrien roads, which is most welcome”, concluded Cllr Keena.
