Political Career
I joined Fianna Fail at 17 years of age when I became a member of the Garrycastle/Cornamaddy Cumann. I served as Secretary of this Cumann from 1979 to 1983 ( 5 years ). Then I became Secretary of the Athlone Fianna Fail Comhairle Ceanntair from 1982 to 1995 ( 14 years ). I was honoured to be co-opted onto Athlone Town Council in 1995 following the untimely death of the late Senator Sean Fallon. Served on this Council from 1995 to 2004. In 2004 I was elected to Westmeath County Council.
